Such metrics and return on investment are exceedingly difficult to measure in real life, and the journalistic chatter going on in the Web is no more than idle gossip dancing *around* the central assumption you make: That somehow in RL marketing departments have a good set of metric and can know that for every unit of currency invested, they will get a certain kind of return. An old marketing saying goes: "I know half of my marketing budget is wasted money, I just don't know which half!" It will be interesting if they have better luck in SL than RL...
